The Civil Survey Team Lead role plans directs, manages, and provides oversight of assigned design and survey projects to ensure that Company goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed schedule and budget parameters. This position is responsible for leading teams to deliver projects, engage in business development necessary to meet growth goals, manage resources, schedules, financials and adhere to quality and control guidelines. This also includes management of issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery.

This also includes management of issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff. 
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.  
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • In accordance with the goals, policies, and procedures of Topographic, the Civil Survey Team Lead is responsible and accountable for portions of one or more of the following essential functions, and other duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position. 
  • Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues.
  • Maintain and develop practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.
  • Provide on-site leadership of team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Prepare proposals and detailed project plan for potential projects.
  • Develop and deliver status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues to leadership.
  • Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration, or litigation, as needed.
  • Monitor, track, and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and participate in quality issue resolution.
  • Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Proven success in providing on site leadership for team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Continue professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for team member time-off.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management.
  • Experience in successfully leading projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule and within budget.
  • Experience drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AutoCAD.
  • Experience leading, motivating and managing various project team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance.
  • Team-building skills with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • RPLS Required

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

Mental Demands: The following mental demands are required to perform the essential functions of this job: concentrate, conceptualize, cooperative work with others/teamwork, detailed work, frequent task changes, irregular schedule as needed, learn new tasks, interruptive /distractive environment, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, reasoning, problem-solving, time pressures.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 + Monthly bonus 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Must be authorized to work in the United States.
